Wilmer Flores: Mets Shortstop Cries on the Field After Hearing Rumors That He Would Be Traded

In the 1992 classic A League of Their Own, Tom Hanks memorably declared, "There's no crying in baseball."

Well, apparently that rule doesn't apply in the smartphone era - a time in which players can catch wind of the fact that they're being traded in the middle of a freaking game!

Allow us to explain:

The emotional young man in the clip above is New York Mets pitcher Wilmer Flores.

During last night's game against the San Diego Padres word spread that Flores - who has been with the Mets since 2013 - had been traded to the Milwaukee Brewers.

Sources on social media claimed it was a done deal, and the crowd began giving Flores standing ovations every time he took the field.

As you can see in the video, the news made Flores rather emotional. His coaches showed no mercy and left him in the game.

Learning that you're being forced to move to Milwaukee would be enough to reduce any man to tears, but thankfully for Flores, it turned out that his grief was all for naught.

The trade fell through and, for the time being at least, Flores will remain in New York.

Unfortunately, he still has to play for the Mets.

Between this and the cheating wife caught sexting her side-piece at the Braves-Dodgers game, it's been a big week for baseball fails.
