Before this, Lexi was perhaps best known for jumping into Poppie's Pond at host Mission Hills C.C. after winning the ANA Inspiration for her first major title.
Now, as Thompson prepares to defend that very title, we have a feeling fans will be talking about something besides her career-best golfing achievement.
She follows in the footsteps of Fox Sports reporter Holly Sonders, then with Golf Channel, who appeared on the cover and in a photo spread in 2013.
The 2014 version of the issue featured a racy Paulina Gretzky Golf Digest cover, ostensibly because she's PGA Tour star Dustin Johnson's fiancee.
Those issues drew criticism from the golf community for not featuring LPGA players, or much in the way of clothing. Lexi solves the first issue at least.
Cover aside, several other LPGA players are featured in a shoot inside the magazine in a manner that won't ruffle the feathers of as many in golf.
Thompson, Michelle Wie, Stacy Lewis and Cheyenne Woods (niece of Tiger) are shown working out in what you'd expect most people to wear to the gym.
