A young David Luiz fan wrote a nice letter to Brazil's maligned captain after the home team's disastrous World Cup loss, reminding us that it's only a game.
Not only that, her touching note served as a needed antidote to some other fans who, you could say, took Brazil's thrashing by Germany a bit seriously.
After his team's loss - and what many felt was a poor effort by him individually - Luiz received the letter from nine-year-old Ana Luz, which he shared on Twitter:
“Hi David Luiz," the letter reads.
"My name is Ana Luz. I saw all of the Brazil games in the World Cup and I liked it a lot watching you play. I think that you don’t need to be sad because you played well and did the best you could."
"You were a great captain. Life is like this, sometimes people lose and sometimes people win but people only need to be happy. David Luiz, you are my champion."
"Ana Luz Penna Reale"
Luiz, who'd already given a tearful apology to Brazil after the 7-1 World Cup semifinal drubbing and said that he “just wanted to see my people smile,” was moved.
The footballer responded:
"Many thanks Princess Ana, loved your letter! And many thanks to all Brazilians for the support. I’ll never give up my dreams, and I will always strive to give back all the love I receive! God bless you all!”
Kids. They're the best.
